1) Drift tax
2) I really want that.

Because the market for them is smaller. Less people interested.

Because they aren’t skylines.

They are not, the price of that car is in line with a Skyline GTS-T if not more.
A few months ago I saw they were still the same as S13 prices in Japan though this must either be really clean or really over priced.

Because it is not a Skyline. The only reason Skylines are so expensive is because of fanboys.

I should also mention I could have picked one of these over a Skyline GTS-T but they have multiple things going against them.
I just looked it up and this is WAY overpriced and the reason why is it’s an Autech version of which only 30 were made. You can get one for half this from Japan.
Here’s why they are cheaper than skylines:
1. They are ugly.
2. Their transmissions are weak and they are not common where with a Skyline GTST the same is the case but any Skyline trans bolts in and they are plentiful. The only fix is PPG gearset or something like that which is $$$. Where the fix for my car is a RB25 trans which is like $800 on ebay.
3. They are TINY and have a very short wheelbase which leads to tricky handling.
4. They have a rare SR20DET so parts are not easy to come by.
5. They cost at the time, the same as a S13 which has freely available parts everywhere, is just as fast, and far more people know it. This Pulsar is like the 3rd choice in that group of cars, the S13 beind 2nd to Skylines.
6. They won’t appreciate like a Skyline would. When I bought mine it was $4000 in Japan. They are worth like $14k now.
7. They have no race or rally heritage. Sure they were rallied but they were an “also ran”.
A lot of this is fixed by going for a Bluebird SSS Attessa and they are even cheaper. Has the same transmission and AWD as this car (bad and good), but the more common SR20, and is an Altima body so parts are plentiful.
The people considering this car are also going to consider a Galant Evo, LanEvo, WRX, or related cars.
Then you have the Escort Cosworth and 155Q4 as chocies too soon if not now already. The pulsar is just not as good as any of these. I would want it for weirdness or Nissan fan factor but if I were importing a rally car I would be seriously looking into a Galant EVO (early lancers do noting for me), WRX, or Escort right now.
I am a Nissan fan and a fan of this car but think of all the choices you have to weigh it against. Like I am editing this post right now and forgot about the Celica GT-Four. I would for sure pick a GT-Four Carlos Sainz over this as well or any ST185, maybe even a ST165 for nostalgia purposes but the ST185 has a nice wide body that none of it’s competition has, is a coupe, and is a great smooth looking car and on top of it having GREAT Group A heritage.

/do want.

you have reminded me that the 155Q4 will soon be importable... damn you.

Can you name a hollywood blockbuster film where the pulsar was a star car in it? you sure can with the Skyline so there’s part of your price hike

is that really why people buy cars? the pulsar was rare and jdm and fast as fuck(seriously 0-60 in 5 seconds or less. tale your e30 m3 and suck it). It was also a successful homolgation race car. it has the makings of an all time legend but they sell for 10-15. it doesn't add up

exposure helps create hype/popularity, because the skyline featured predominantly in 2 Fast 2 Furious a lot of people are aware of it, not many people will be aware of the GTi-R and therefore demand is not as high ergo cheaper

Yup, the budget Lancia Delta Integrale is pretty much what it is.
The MAIN issue I have with that car is nobody will know wtf it is or have experience working on it. I think it’s out of my league for that alone since I get about half the work done on my cars by local shops.
Skyline has shown me that trim and things like that are easy to obtain on cars not sold in the US so long as I don’t mind paying. That part I am unconcerned with.

SHHHHHHHH!! Don’t ruin the car for those of us who know what they are.
And why is the skyline more expensive? Two words: Ricer Tax

I’ve owned an Alfa before. I know the people one should know for when the shade-tree isn’t enough. I've wanted a 155 Q4 for a long time.

Las Vegas doesn’t have very many good car shops. I would like one but I would fear owning one here lol. If I was still in Chicago that would be another story. Amazing shops there for all makes.

I like it. I think that’s cooler than a skyline. That’s right. I said it. Come at me bro!
On a side note, why are 25+ year old JDM imports easy to find, but european imports (with the steering wheel on the CORRECT side!) are nowhere? Yes I know I can import it myself, but I want someone to have already done that, because i am lazy.
